Therapeutic dentistry is a branch of dentistry that deals with the treatment of dental enamel, pulp, and oral mucosa diseases. Therapeutic dentistry plays a vital role in oral care, as it not only focuses on treatment but also studies oral health problems and methods of their prevention.

"Vivadent" Dental Clinic is one of the leaders in therapeutic dentistry. Our doctors use the most advanced and high-quality equipment. Thanks to this, all procedures are performed almost painlessly — which is especially important since patients often fear dental pain.
"Vivadent" provides the following therapeutic services:

  •     Treatment of caries and deep caries
  •     Treatment of pulpitis
  •     Treatment of periodontitis

Caries is the most common dental disease. Its presence and complications cause significant discomfort in daily life. Therefore, treating caries is a fundamental aspect of oral hygiene.

Caries is a disease in which cavities form on the enamel, gradually weakening and destroying it. Caries results from a local pH imbalance between dental plaque and enamel. This happens due to the natural fermentation of carbohydrates by microorganisms, producing organic acids that damage the enamel. A high intake of carbohydrates can prevent saliva from restoring its buffer capacity, keeping the oral pH low — ultimately causing caries and tooth destruction.

Treatment of Caries

Mild forms of caries can be reversed with improved oral hygiene and remineralization of enamel using calcium. These enamel changes are considered reversible.

When the disease progresses, the enamel becomes irreversibly damaged, leading to deep caries. In this case, the affected enamel area is removed, and the cavity is filled.

Treatment of caries, pulpitis, root canal filling

If caries is not diagnosed and treated in time, it destroys the enamel and affects the inner soft tissues. This can lead to a complication — pulpitis.

Pulpitis is the inflammation of the tooth’s neurovascular bundle (pulp). Acute pulpitis usually results from infection reaching the nerve while the pulp is still intact. This condition causes severe pain, prompting patients to seek emergency dental care. Chronic pulpitis is a consequence of untreated acute pulpitis. In chronic cases, fibrous tissue grows, causing intense, often nighttime pain.

Treatment of Pulpitis and Root Canals

Treatment can be lengthy. When possible, the tooth is disinfected and root canals are treated, preserving the nerve. If the disease has advanced, treatment involves removing the affected nerve and sealing the canals.

Another common complication of caries is periodontitis. Periodontitis is the inflammation of the periodontium, the connective tissue between the tooth and the dental alveolus. Chronic periodontitis weakens the ligaments that support the tooth.

Treatment of Periodontitis

Treatment is a long and meticulous process. First, infected tissues are removed and the root canal is cleaned. Anti-inflammatory medications are then applied until the infection is completely eliminated. Finally, the tooth is restored, if possible.
